How do research questions emerge from historical texts? How can a completed doctoral dissertation become the starting point for new scholarly inquiries? Research is rarely a linear process; it develops through extensive reading, the collection of materials, and continuous reflection and revision. Under the theme of “Rediscovering Medieval Textual Sources,” this Young Scholars Forum brings together four scholars to share their research experiences, exploring how research topics take shape, how historical materials generate new questions, and how scholarly directions evolve beyond the doctoral dissertation. We warmly invite faculty members, students, and all those interested in medieval Chinese texts, the Wei, Jin, and Northern and Southern Dynasties, and academic research methodologies to join us in reflecting on the ongoing journey of scholarly inquiry—between completion and new beginnings.
