Professor Chao-Ching, Fu: Public Lecture and Guided Heritage Tour
In recent years, growing interest in cultural heritage preservation and local history has led to an increasing number of publications and guided tours. However, interpretations of historic sites often focus on architectural features and historical facts, overlooking their deeper cultural significance.
This lecture explores the cultural heritage of two historic sites in Tainan—Zhuxi Temple and Beiji Temple / Wu Garden—through two historical events: “The Eagle’s Arrival from Eagle Ridge” (鷲嶺飛來) and “The Springtime Gathering at Zhuxi” (竹溪修禊).
Through the insights of Professor Chao-Ching Fu, participants will discover how classical Chinese scholarship is embedded in Tainan’s historic landscapes and everyday culture, gaining a deeper understanding of how these intellectual traditions have shaped the city’s cultural identity and way of life.
Faculty members, students, and members of the public interested in Tainan’s history, cultural heritage, and local traditions are warmly invited to participate.
