The lecture will be held on Tuesday, March 17, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon at the International Academic Lecture Hall, College of Liberal Arts, National Cheng Kung University (Kuang-Fu Campus).

Academician Wang Fan-sen will offer an in-depth discussion of the various challenges facing the study of intellectual history, while also examining the development of intellectual history and its role in modern academic research. As a field concerned with the historical trajectories of human thought, intellectual history continues to face pressing scholarly questions in today’s rapidly changing social environment, including how to address the loss of historical materials, interpretive biases, and the limitations of theoretical frameworks.

In addition, Academician Wang will share his years of practical experience and reflections in the field of intellectual history, including shifts from theory to method, and how new perspectives may be employed to reinterpret classical ideas and theories within the current contexts of globalization and interdisciplinary research.
